Amazon exec jumps to GameStop

GameStop continues to shore up its leadership team as it looks to accelerate its digital transformation.

The videogame retail has appointed Elliott Wilke to the role of chief growth officer, effective April 5. Wilke will oversee growth strategies and marketing, with a focus on increasing customer loyalty and growing the reach of GameStop’s rewards program. He will also work with other leaders on initiatives that include expanding the company’s use of customer insights and metrics to optimize channel marketing.

Wilke joins GameStop from Amazon, where he spent eight years in a variety of senior roles, most recently as director of Amazon Fresh Stores. He also served as general manager — Prime pantry business and global technology. Before joining Amazon, Wilke spent 11 years at Proctor & Gamble.

GameStop also made two other executive hires.

Andrea Wolfe was named VP of brand development, effective March 29. Most recently, she was head of marketing at Outdoorsy. Wolfe also held senior marketing roles at Spreetail and Outdoor Voices. And from 2014 to 2017, she was VP of marketing at Chewy.

Tom Petersen was named VP of merchandising, a role he previously held at Chewy. He also held various roles at Arteza, Corro, Boxy and Zulilly.

In March, GameStop named board member Ryan Cohen, co-founder of Chewy, head of a new strategy committee that is focused on “identifying actions that can transform GameStop into a technology business and help create enduring value for stockholders,” the company stated at the time.
