Amazon enters the used car business — starting in this market
Amazon is diving deeper into the automotive business.
The online giant is expanding its Amazon Autos platform to include used and certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles. Dealers can list their used vehicle inventory on Amazon, providing customers with more choices among popular cars and trucks at more price points, the company said.
The new offering is now available to customers in the Los Angeles market, with expansion to additional cities across the country planned for the coming months. The program will start with pre-owned vehicles from Hyundai dealers, with additional dealerships to be added.
The used and CPO vehicle listings will appear alongside new vehicles across the Amazon Autos storefront, which launched in December 2024 through a partnership with Hyundai. Customers will have the option to filter results to show new or used vehicles. All vehicles must be available within a 75-mile sales radius of the customer.
Key features of the used and CPO program include transparent pricing — where you see the price you pay with no hidden fees, according to Amazon — and comprehensive vehicle information including vehicle history reports available for all listings. Customer protection features include a thee-day/300-mile return policy and a minimum 30 day/1,000-mile limited warranty on all vehicles
“We look forward to bringing the convenience of Amazon Autos to used vehicle sales," said Fan Jin, global leader of Amazon Autos. "This expansion is driven by strong interest from our dealer partners. By including certified pre-owned and used vehicles, we're meeting dealer demand for broader online reach while offering customers a wider selection of high-quality vehicles to fit your budget and unique lifestyle needs.”
The addition of used and CPO vehicles builds upon Amazon Autos' new vehicle sales offering. Currently, dealers in more than 130 U.S. cities participate in the program.
"This move continues our commitment to support local dealerships, now connecting dealers with more prospective customers online across new, certified pre-owned, and used vehicle categories,” added Jin.
