Amazon is teaming up with a well-known financial services company to offer select credit card holders a new flex payment option on Amazon Pay.

In an email to Chain Store Age, Amazon said the new Citi Flex Pay on Amazon Pay solution gives eligible Citi credit card members the option to pay over time when using the Amazon Pay digital wallet application at thousands of participating online retail sites.

The Amazon e-commerce site and mobile app have already been accepting Citi Flex Pay. Now e-commerce sites now accepting Citi Flex Pay on Amazon Pay include Jomashop and Fragrance.net.

This collaboration marks the first time Citi credit card members can use the Citi Flex Pay option through a digital wallet. Amazon also offers flexible payment options on its e-commerce site via partnerships with Affirm.

The digital wallet uses information stored in a customer’s Amazon wallet, such email, shipping addresses, and payment methods, to eliminate the need for customers to create a new account or remember passwords in order to checkout. With no application or additional details required, eligible Citi credit card members can check out and pay with the option in a few steps using the Amazon Pay button.

Eligible Citi credit card members can select three- to 48-month payment plans for purchases of $50 or more. Monthly payments are included in a cardmember’s minimum monthly payment due at the end of each billing period. There is no additional fee required for retailers to offer this payment option.

“Customers want flexible payment options and merchants want to offer that flexibility but don’t always have the resources to do so,” said Omar Soudodi, director of Amazon Pay.Introducing is a win-win for both customers and merchants—customers have a new, convenient way to pay for their purchases and merchants can seamlessly offer new and existing customers more choice, affordability, and flexibility in how they pay.”

“At Citi, we are passionate about offering our customers best in class payment options so that they can pay the way they choose,” said Sergio Zanatti, head of U.S. unsecured lending at Citi.We are thrilled to continue to expand our Flex Pay to Amazon Pay, providing flexibility for even more retailers and shoppers directly integrated within their checkouts.”
