Amazon is growing its operations in West Texas.
The online giant plans to open its first fulfillment center in El Paso, Texas, in 2021. Amazon employees will work alongside robotics in the 625,000-sq.-ft. center to pick, pack and ship small items to customers such as books, electronics and toys.
The new fulfillment center will create about 750 full-time jobs, starting at $15 per hour.
“We’re grateful for the strong support we’ve received from local and state leaders and we look forward to creating over 700 full-time jobs for the El Paso community, with industry-leading pay and comprehensive benefits starting on day one,” said Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon’s VP of global customer fulfillment.
