Aldi is updating and expanding its footprint in Florida.
The fast-growing discount grocer opened a store in Hudson, Fla., part of Aldi’s national expansion plan to become the third-largest U.S. grocer by store count by the end of 2022. Currently, it operates more than 2,000 U.S. stores across 37 states.
In addition, Aldi has reopened a renovated location at University Plaza Shopping Center in Tampa, and in Pinellas Park, Fla. The two updated stores are part of the company’s $5 billion investment to remodel and expand more than 1,300 locations.
The remodeled stores boast an improved layout and ample refrigeration to accommodate an expanded fresh and convenient food selection. Other features include open ceilings, natural lighting and the use of environmentally-friendly materials.
Aldi is also continuing to grow its e-commerce offerings. Grocery delivery is available in more than 10,000 ZIP codes, and the chain recently announced the expansion of curbside grocery pickup to nearly 600 stores nationwide.
