Albertsons taps The Fresh Market exec to be chief marketing officer
Albertsons Cos. has named a new marketing leader.
Emily Turner has been named senior VP, chief marketing officer. In the role, she will lead Albertsons Cos.’s enterprise marketing strategy across key functions that drive customer growth and engagement. Turner will report to Michelle Larson, executive VP and chief merchandising officer.
Most recently, she served as chief marketing officer of North Carolina-based specialty grocer The Fresh Market for almost two years. Previously, she spent two years at Dollar Tree serving in multiple roles, including chief marketing officer, along with nearly nine years at data science company Dunnhumby.

The grocer has been without a formal chief marketing officer for approximately a year following the departure of Sean Barrett, noted Chain Store Age’s sister publication Progressive Grocer. Barrett left Albertsons to take on the chief marketing officer role at Woolworths Group.
"Emily is a highly respected marketing leader with a proven ability to build customer-centric brands and deliver meaningful business results," said Larson, who has served as Albertsons’ merchandising chief since last spring. "Her expertise connecting with customers and leading transformational change will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen loyalty and build deeper relationships with the customers we serve.”
Turner’s appointment is the latest C-suite change for Albertsons, as it recently announced that chief financial officer Sharon McCollam will retire later this year. She will remain in her role until a successor is named, and will remain with the company in an advisory capacity until the end of the fiscal year to ensure a seamless transition.
As of June 20, 2026, Boise-based Albertsons Cos. operated 2,240 retail stores with 1,708 in-store pharmacies, 408 associated fuel centers, 22 dedicated distribution centers and 19 manufacturing facilities.
