White Castle names new marketing chief

Jamie Richardson
Jamie Richardson has been with White Castle since 1998.

A longstanding quick-serve hamburger chain has promoted a veteran employee to its C-suite.

White Castle has named Jamie Richardson as its new chief marketing officer following the retirement of Lynn Blashford, who spent the last six years in the role. The restaurant chain says that as marketing chief, Richardson will play a central role in shaping how White Castle “tells its story, connects with Cravers and lives out its brand values.”

Richardson joined White Castle in 1998 as regional marketing supervisor. In 2008, he was promoted to the role of VP of corporate relations and communications. In January 2020, Richardson was named VP of marketing and public relations, and has held the position for the past six years.

“Jamie brings a deep knowledge of our brand, strong relationships across our communities and an unwavering belief in what makes White Castle special,” said Lisa Ingram, CEO of White Castle and the great-granddaughter of White Castle’s founder, Billy Ingram. “I have full confidence that Jamie will carry forward the strong foundation Lynn has built while continuing to bring fresh ideas and energy to the team.”

Prior to White Castle, Richardson held leadership roles at advertising agency J. Walter Thompson. As chief marketing officer, Richardson will report to White Castle president Anthony Joseph.

“White Castle has been a part of my life for more than 27 years, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as chief marketing officer,” said Richardson. “We exist to feed the souls of craver generations everywhere. Sharing our story with more cravers and potential cravers helps us do just that. Whether you’re seeking us out at the drive-thru or in your grocer’s freezer aisle, our marketing mission is to make sure you know the Castle has you covered.”

Founded in 1921 and based in Columbus, Ohio, White Castle operates more than 330 restaurants nationwide.
