Ulta's chief marketing, e-commerce officer to depart
One of Ulta Beauty’s C-suite members is departing the company.
Michelle Crossan-Matos, the beauty retailer’s chief marketing & e-commerce officer, announced that she is stepping down from her role in a LinkedIn post on Jan. 23. She had served in the role since January of 2023.
Prior to joining Ulta, Crossan-Matos had worked at Samsung Electronics American for five years, and spent nearly two years as senior VP and chief marketing, citizenship & communications officer.
“After a few awesome years at Ulta Beauty, the time has come to leave and take on a new challenge,” wrote Crossan-Matos in her post. “As many of you know, coming back home to beauty was special for me. I am humbled and feel privileged that I was able to work with the most amazing thought leaders, brand partners and founders so we could harness the power of beauty as a force for good.”

Crossan-Matos’ departure from Ulta comes on the heels of a CEO shakeup. Earlier this month, the nation’s largest specialty beauty retailer said that Dave Kimbell is retiring as CEO and will step down from the company’s board. Kecia Steelman, Ulta president and COO, succeeds him as president and chief executive and will join the company’s board. The changes were effective immediately.
Kimbell served as CEO of Ulta since June 2021, succeeding Mary Dillon in the role. He joined the company as a chief marketing officer in 2014 and was named president in 2019. Kimbell will serve as an advisor to Ulta through June 28, 2025.
Last December, Ulta announced that chief merchandising officer Monica Arnaudo would be stepping down from her position in spring 2025. The company said it was looking for a successor and said Arnaudo, who has been with Ulta since 2017, will help with a transition.
Ulta Beauty operates more than 1,437 retail stores across 50 states.
