JCPenney, Macy’s, and AMC Theatres still operate at Dartmouth Mall.
Ulta Beauty has signed a lease for 7,500 sq. ft. of what used to be a Sears anchor at Dartmouth Mall in Dartmouth, Mass., a 350-year-old town on Buzzards Bay near the famed fishing port of New Bedford.
Aldi and Burlington had already filled the rest of the Sears location at the property owned and operated by PREIT, which now can claim market rents for the prime space.
Dartmouth is the only mall remaining in its market, presenting itself as another example of PREIT CEO Joseph Coradino’s “Winner Take All” postulation that the strongest mall in any key market will survive if correctly re-invented.
"PREIT has been a leader in replacing department stores--counting 20 in the past seven years. Ulta now rounds out our proactive recapture of Sears at Dartmouth Mall, solidifying its strong position in the marketplace," Coradino said.
Sears was the last original anchor still operating the 670,000-sq.-ft. mall when it suspended business there in 2019. Other early anchors were Zayres (later Ames) and Cherry & Webb.
Macy’s, JCPenney, Old Navy and AMC theaters remain in operation at Dartmouth.
