Trader Joe's to open early at Georgia's new Medley project.

Mark Toro, who developed the posh Avalon center in Alpharetta, Ga., this week will see the first tenant open at Medley, the 43-acre mixed-use community that is the opening act of his Toro Development Company (TDC).

Beginning this week, Trader Joe’s will be doing business from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Medley, which has leases signed for some 80% of its retail and office space.

“This opening marks a major milestone for the project and Johns Creek,” Toro said. “Trader Joe’s has grown into a highly sought-after lifestyle brand that prioritizes the community-focused and hospitality-driven experience Medley will deliver. As we look ahead to our grand opening, this is just the first of many special Medley moments we will share with the people of Johns Creek.”

Trader Joe’s staged an early opening at Medley, whose grand opening is scheduled for Oct. 29, when some 40 retail and food and beverage brands will open their doors.

Medley is located at the intersection of Johns Creek Parkway and McGinnis Ferry Road. At full buildout, the project will encompass 145,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space; 881 luxury residences; a 150-key boutique hotel; 110,000 square feet of lifestyle office space, and a 25,000-sq.-ft. plaza that will be activated with up to 200 events per year.

Johns Creek is one of the wealthiest communities in the state of Georgia, with a median household income of $160,000. In 2024, the median property value in the city was $629,400 and the home ownership rate was above 80%.
