Total Wine & More exec to lead PGA Tour Superstore
A leading golf retail chain has found its new chief executive.
PGA Tour Superstore has named Troy Rice as its next CEO, effective Sept. 2. He succeeds longtime leader Dick Sullivan, who announced his plans to retire earlier this year. Rice will report to Arthur M. Blank, owner and chairman of Blank Family of Businesses, which acquired PGA Tour Superstore in 2010.
Rice will join the golf retailer from Total Wine & More, which he had led for the past three and a half years as CEO. He joined the company in 2017 as chief stores officer, was promoted to COO in 2021, and named CEO in 2022. Rice is credited with leading a period of rapid growth and expansion for Total Wine, increasing sales from $2.5 billion to $6 billion and store locations from 165 to 274. He accelerated online sales from $300 million to more than $1 billion.
Rice began his career at The Home Depot when it was being led by founders Arthur M. Blank and Bernie Marcus. Joining the home improvement chain in 1990, he spent 16 years at the company, eventually rising to lead its largest division.
In 2006, he was named executive VP of stores and services at Toys “R” Us. In 2014, he was recruited to Office Depot where, as COO, he led the company's merger with Office Max.
“Troy’s proven record of success makes him an exceptional fit to lead as our new CEO of PGA Tour Superstore,” said Blank. “His experience and leadership roles at Home Depot and in dynamic retailers since then underscore his deep understanding of our core values and operational discipline. His achievements, particularly his ability to drive growth, lead transformation and elevate customer experiences, reflect his understanding of today’s retail climate."
When Blank acquired PGA Tour Superstore in 2010, the company had only 10 stores. It currently operates 77 locations in 28 states, with robust expansion plans that will total more than 100 stores over the next two years.
Sullivan, who led PGA Tour Superstore for the past 15 years, will remain executive chairman of PGA Tour Superstore and a member of the Arthur M. Blank board of trustees. Jill Spiegel remains president of PGA Tour Superstore with a key operational role, reporting to Rice.

“I am thrilled to join PGA Tour Superstore and help build on the business that Arthur, Dick, Jill and the entire team have created,” said Rice. “This is truly a best-in-class business that leads the way in customer experience and provides golfers with the best the game can offer. Between the product selection, associate knowledge, and in-store services, PGA Tour Superstore offers an unparalleled experience in the market.”
