Toro Development’s first project signs its first tenants
Developer Mark Toro’s first project at his new company will have something in common with the Avalon project he helped lead at North American Properties: lots of good restaurants.
Toro Development Company (TDC) announced the first 11 tenants that have signed leases at the under-construction Medley center in Johns Creek, Ga. Eight of them are food and beverage concepts.
And the search for great grub and grog goes on.
“We have been carefully curating the right mix of chef talent and new experiences for the community, and we are thrilled to announce this first batch of tenants,” said TDC’s Vice President of Leasing Kimberly Goetz. “We are still actively seeking the best Indian restaurant, fitness concept, steakhouse, and dress boutique, among others, to create something truly special and unique for Johns Creek.”
Inaugural tenants include:
Little Rey: Acclaimed chef Ford Fry’s Northern Mexican concept is known for wood-roasted “chicken al carbon,” plus staples like al carbon tacos, traditional street style tacos, salads, and fresh salsas, all served on hand-made tortillas.
CRÚ Food & Wine Bar: Restaurant Works CEO Patrick Colombo’s place offers 300 wines with food pairings such as artisan cheese flights and stone-fired pizzas. One of his other locations is at Avalon in Alpharetta
Fadó Irish Pub: Founded in Buckhead in 1996, Fadó’s first suburban situation will be Medley.
Lily Sushi Bar: Another eatery with an Alpharetta location, Lily serves quintessential Japanese cuisine using locally sourced produce.
Lucciano’s Gelato: This a family-owned company researched gelato-making in Italy and combines both local and Italian ingredients with Belgian chocolate in its creations.
Knuckies Hoagies: Premium meats and product on home-baked rolls made Knuckies an Atlanta favorite among lovers of cheesesteaks and Cuban sandwiches.
Medley, which will serve as a central community and business center in the affluent and fast-growing Atlanta suburb of John’s Creek, will be made up of 200,000 sq. ft. of space for retail, restaurants and entertainment concepts, 900 residential units, and 110,000 sq. ft. of office space.
The 43-acre project represents an important part of the city’s 192-acre “Town Center Vision and Plan,”which will weave together mixed-use real estate with new public pathways and parks.
“As is our custom, we’re not leasing space, we’re investing in relationships,” Toro declared. “Whether it’s with old friends like Ford Fry and Patrick Colombo or new ones like Lily Sushi’s Susan Vuong and Cookie Fix’s Missy Moon, we’re focused on bringing the ‘A player’ in each category.”
Johns Creek is on a path to become an important medical center in the Atlanta metro. Last year the town received approval to more than double its hospital and medical office space over the coming 20 years. A Boston Scientific Life Sciences facility with more than 300 employees will be built adjacent to Medley in the town center.
