Stock + Field's big store in Lansing, Mich., is on the market.

After 55 years in business, Stock + Field, the Midwestern farm supply and outdoor equipment retailer, will be closing all 25 of its stores and liquidating all of its inventory. The company, formerly known as Big R Stores, filed for Chapter 11 protection last month and has elected to pack it in.

"There have been many challenges in 2020, and Stock + Field was not immune to them," said CEO Matthew Whebbe in a press release.

A&G Real Estate Partners has been retained to sell or re-lease three of the properties: a 137,454-sq.-ft. big box store in a Target-anchored center in Lansing, Mich.; an 89,381-sq.-ft. store in Portage, Wis., and a 135,000-sq.-ft distribution center in Watseka, Ill., that covered all 25 Stock + Field stores.

The Lansing store served a market of 317,000 residents within 10 miles.

“It originally opened as a Sam’s Club in 1989 but underwent a renovation by Stock + Field just two years ago,” said A&G’s senior managing director Mike Matlat.

Stock + Field operated in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
