Target Corp. wants to get product to its stores faster — and in smaller shipments
The discounter has initiated a pilot at its 718,000-sq.-ft. warehouse in Perth Amboy, N.J., that is designed to speed up its store and digital fulfillment efforts, reported
Pacific Business News, which cited a report by the
Wall Street Journal. The pilot involves a just-in-time test of more consolidated inventory shipments, with product tailored to a store’s specific needs.
The new approach would also help reduce stockroom space, which would be helpful for Target’s smaller-footprint stores as well as its locations in packed, urban markets, the report said.
