Amazon’s rocky start to Prime Day is now old news. But the story behind the tech glitz is just now coming to light.
The online giant did not secure enough servers to handle the traffic surge on Prime Day, causing it to immediately launch a scaled-down backup front page and temporarily stop all international traffic, reported
CNBC, which cited internal Amazon documents. The company also had to add servers manually to meet the traffic demand.
“Tech teams are already working to improve our architecture, and I’m confident we’ll deliver an even better experience next year,” Jeff Wilke, Amazon’s CEO of worldwide retail, wrote in an internal e-mail seen by
