Report: 2016 Black Friday weekend deals will be biggest ever

10/27/2016

Regardless of when retailers start their sales, Black Friday weekend is shaping up to feature the biggest deals yet.

According to BlackFriday.fm, a website that tracks the best Black Friday deals, news, and ad scans, “the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are going to be bigger than ever this year, “ said Rene Kirschbaum, director of BlackFriday.fm.

Among the retailers to watch include:

Walmart. With sales likely launching earlier than Thanksgiving, consumers will have time to plan their attack on how to grab doorbuster deals on TVs from Samsung, LG, Vizio, and Panasonic. While big screen 4K TVs are creating the biggest buzz this season, all types TVs will be heavily discounted, as well as kids’ toys, apparel, kitchen items, and more.

Best Buy. With doors opening by 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, shoppers can expect competitive prices on laptops, smartphones, home appliances, and gaming consoles. They can also price match purchases from competitors like Walmart, Amazon, and Target. 4K TVs are expected to sell out quickly, as well as Apple products that will be discounted.

Amazon. The retailer is launching its traditional “Black November” sale, where new deals on a broad range of products will launch daily starting Nov. 1. Lightning deals (similar to in-store doorbuster deals) are also on tap, and are expected to sell out quickly. Amazon Prime members will get first access along with free express shipping, same-day shipping, and other perks, BlackFriday.fm said.

Target. Email subscribers will get early access to Black Friday deals, and steep discounts are expected on everything from home goods to baby gear, electronics, toys, and more. Cyber Monday deals for online shoppers will likely mirror the same. “We expect numerous Target coupons will be released, offering steeper savings online and in-store,” the firm said.

Toys “R” Us. Some of the best discounts on top-selling toys, games, bikes, and kids’ electronics — from Disney Frozen dolls, LEGO sets, and LeapPad, to top-rated bikes — could be on sale for up to 70% off, Blackfriday.fm said, adding that Toys “R” Us is also notorious for great savings on clearance items.

Kohl’s. Like Best Buy, Kohl’s will start its holiday shopping deals at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving. “We anticipate many deals online prior to Thanksgiving, but some of the best savings will be had through their coupons and online codes, Kohl’s Cash, and exclusive cardholder discounts,” the company reported.

“We monitor the best deals and partner with top retailers to get early scoop for our site visitors, with everything they need to save money,” Kirschbaum said.

The firm will continue to share deals through its website, on the BlackFriday.fm app, or through email alerts.
