Online farmer’s market grows inventory with Delivery Biz Pro

4/30/2019
The NYC Farmer’s Market is planting the seeds of assortment expansion.

The NYC Farmer’s Market is an online service delivering local, organic foods to consumers across all of Manhattan, along with most of Brooklyn and Queens. Subscriptions are an option, but not required. Customers can order items such as organic coffee, raw cheeses and pastured beef a la carte, in addition to hand-picked produce boxes containing the best selections of the week.

Parent company Farm to People, which provides an online retail platform for small-batch artisanal producers, is implementing software from Delivery Biz Pro (DBP) to facilitate delivery between farms and providers of fresh produce to homes and businesses with advanced inventory management capabilities.

“We are now able to offer 200 different handmade foods and expect that number to grow to 400 by June,” said Michael Robinov, co-founder of Farm to People. “Without the ability to customize, forecast and manage inventory on DBP, we couldn’t do it.”

Farm to People also offers a nationwide mail delivery service through the Shopify platform. DPB will serve as a complement to Shopify for its local New York City delivery business.

“When it comes to delivery, a t-shirt is a t-shirt; but groceries are handled very differently,” Robinov said. “We love that our customers are kept in the loop and know the minute their packages have been delivered. That kind of detail helps us build a trust that’s very difficult to earn.”

New Mexico-based online community supported agriculture (CSA) service Skarsgard Farms also recently deployed DBP’s cloud-based produce delivery solution. Skarsgard Farms leverages DBP to provide e-commerce capabilities for local fresh food businesses, such as farms, ranches, dairies, and bakeries. Currently, Skarsgard Farms handles all administrative functions, such as routing, billing, and printing reports and invoices, as well as targeted email promotions and delivery routing, with the DBP platform.

DBP is a subsidiary of Australia-based global delivery management platform GetSwift.
