Lowe’s uses Facebook Live to tease Black Friday deals

11/21/2016

Unlike its competitors, Lowe’s is taking to social media to promote Black Friday deals — live.

Using the Facebook Live function, a feature that enables Facebookers to use their smart device’s camera to video a message and broadcast it to their followers in real-time, Lowe’s promoted its Black Friday deals on Saturday, Nov. 18.

Called the “Mystery Box Bonanza,” Lowe’s live stream featured approximately 11 Black Friday deals on a 40-minute segment hosted by Drew and Jonathan Scott of the HGTV show, "Property Brothers,” according to the video, which was reposted on Lowe’s Facebook page on Monday, Nov. 21.

The post accompanying the video encourages all followers to “Watch now, and shop online starting Thursday, or in-store on Black Friday.” All featured merchandise — and sale prices — will be honored between Thursday, Nov. 24 through Wednesday, Nov. 30.
