J. Crew axing bridal

11/4/2016

J. Crew Group is exiting the bridal business, which it entered back in 2004.

The company has marked down its entire collection of wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses by up to 70% online and in stores, reported Business Insider.

Once the merchandise sells out, the retailer will no longer offer a wedding line, according to the report.

It’s a big change for J.Crew, which was once so committed to the category that it even opened a bridal boutique in Manhattan, along with in-store bridal departments.

Going forward, J. Crew plans to “focus on what women like to wear to someone else’s wedding, versus what they would wear to their own,” a company spokesperson said an e-mail to Bloomberg.
