If it’s got to be clean, it’s got to be Tide–on demand and across channels

CPG detergent brand Tide is looking to clean up in the burgeoning on-demand service industry.

Tide is introducing Tide Cleaners, an omnichannel, on-demand laundry and dry cleaning service, at more than 1,000 locations in hundreds of cities nationwide. Tide plans to more than double its Tide Cleaners rollout to more than 2,000 locations across the U.S. by the end of 2020.

Tide Cleaners delivers its omnichannel laundry and dry cleaning services in several formats. These include 24/7 urban drop-boxes inside high-rise apartment buildings, offices and storefronts. Consumers download the Tide Cleaners app and submit cleaning instructions and the box number, then Tide Cleaners will send a notification when clean clothes are ready for pick up.

Today boxes exist in Chicago, Washington, D.C., Dallas, Denver, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Boston and Nashville, with about 350 new boxes installed every month. Tide Cleaners boxes are also installed in existing retail locations, such as supermarkets.

Tide Cleaners also operates on college campuses. Students at more than 20 campuses, including the University of Alabama, Indiana University and Southern Methodist University, can hand laundry over to attended service trucks parked outside residence halls. To start the service, parents or students can purchase a monthly laundry plan and deposit laundry in a customized Tide Cleaners laundry bag.

In addition, currently Tide Cleaners has over 125 standalone 24/7 stores across 22 states, in cities such as Houston, Phoenix and Omaha. Stores are mostly locally franchised.

Consumers, building managers, interested franchisees and retailers can request that Tide Cleaners consider opening a location in their city, building or on their campus by going to Tidecleaners.com/start. Tide Cleaners builds upon out-of-home dry cleaning and wash and fold services Tide has been offering for about a decade.

“Many people believe that in order to get laundry done right, they have to do it themselves,” said Sundar Raman, VP of North American fabric care business for Tide parent company Procter & Gamble. “Tide is taking this challenge head-on and aiming to give people clean, cared-for clothes and some time back. This new service will complement our existing business, and give people the option to get the Tide clean they deserve on their terms, not on their time.”
