Williams-Sonoma has a new technology leader.
The home furnishings retailer has appointed Yasir Anwar as its chief technology officer. Anwar will lead all technology aspects of the company’s digital experience, retail stores and supply chain, and will oversee its 3-D imaging and augmented reality platform, Outward, which it acquired at the end of last year.
Anwar most recently served as executive VP and CTO of Macy’s, which he joined in 2012, going on to hold various leadership roles in digital technology and engineering. Prior to Macy’s, he served in various roles at Walmart, including head of platform engineering at Walmartlabs and head of engineering for Samsclub.com. He also led architecture for Walmart.com.
“With his strong engineering and digital background, Yasir will accelerate our initiatives to improve customer satisfaction in all channels and drive supply chain efficiencies,” said Laura Alber, president and CEO, Williams-Sonoma. “His deep understanding of e-commerce combined with his innovative and collaborative spirit are ideal for leading our technology strategies and teams.”
