Wayfair’s newest digital endeavor could be a valuable resource for the design community.
The home furnishings brand released its 3D model library on SketchUp, 3D modeling software used by architects, engineers, design, construction professionals, and members of the global maker community. Through the partnership, Wayfair is releasing approximately 1,000 models to SketchUp’s 3D Warehouse, enabling designers to visualize the company’s furniture and décor products in their designs.
“Wayfair has long been committed to supporting the unique needs of the design community with a team of dedicated experts who can seamlessly manage product selection and offer competitive pricing,” said Steve Conine, the online retailer’s co-chairman and co-founder. “The availability of our 3D model library on SketchUp will further streamline this process by enabling designers to quickly and accurately place furniture into their designs, easily test a variety of options, and, ultimately, use the real product in their visualizations.”
Wayfair’s 3D model library is the latest addition to its ongoing digital innovations in photographic rendering, as well as
augmented and virtual reality.
By using SketchUp, which is described as the most widely used software in the interiors segment, “we providing the design community with a valuable resource that will help bring their creative visions — and those of their clients — to life,” he added.
