Digital ‘ease’ and ‘convenience' top Harry & David’s holiday to-do list

One of 1-800-Flowers.com’s brands is making sure its customers have the tools they need to digitally order their holiday gifts.

Harry & David on Thursday launched enhancements to its mobile and desktop channels. With mobile orders accounting for nearly 50% of the brand’s online traffic, the retailer upgraded its mobile site with improved page speed, visual navigation, large “shop by price” buttons and streamlined department and category pages designed to simplify the discovery process for shoppers.

The optimized site also features a new mobile checkout process that offers new shipping and payment forms. The site also features Apple Business Chat on iOS devices, enabling users to chat with a gift concierge about a product, service, or question. With Messages, they can also easily pay for orders using Apple Pay.

To streamline desktop ordering, Harry & David redesigned department and category shopping pages to complement the look and feel of the homepage, and depict signature products. To make buying decisions easier, the company upgraded site search and filtering options, including product recommendations and the ability to refine and filter search options based on popular product attributes. Product pages have also been reorganized and updated with alternate views and more visible product images.

Checkout has also been upgraded with a more intuitive experience that features easier navigation as well as the ability to send multiple gifts to multiple recipients in one order.

Both digital channels now feature a new customer service portal where shoppers can view real-time updates on order status, apply modifications to their orders, and receive live chat support as needed. In addition, customers can access a ‘Gift List’ that offers easy reordering capabilities for gift recipients, with the simple use of a verification code, if preferred.
