Christmas Tree Shops is making a significant change to its e-commerce strategy.
In an undated
statement on its FAQ page, the retailer, best known for its bargain-priced home décor and seasonal items, says it is no longer selling products on its christmastreeshops.com site. However, customers can still browse the site to find items sold in stores, as well as content such as product previews, trends and tips.
According to Christmas Tree Shops, customer desire for an exciting, unpredictable shopping experience led to its decision to curtail online sales.
“We heard you when you told us that visiting our stores is more like a treasure hunt than a shopping trip,” says the statement. “That you love discovering something unique in every aisle, and the feeling of excitement when you score incredible deals on things you need (and things you didn't know you needed until you found them!)”
Christmas Tree Shops goes on to say it will continue to provide support for all online transactions made before or on June 13. Returns and exchanges for products purchased online on or before that date will be honored via the retailer’s standard 90-day return policy. The retailer does not specify if returns for online purchases can be handled online and/or in-store.
Existing online accounts will remain active, and customers can still review their online order history. Christmas Tree Shops is also offering email and SMS text updates of trends, deals and news.
