Best Buy upholds tradition of free holiday shipping
Looking to attract shoppers in what is expected to be a highly competitive season, Best Buy is waiving online shipping fees.
For the second year in a row, the electronics retailer is offering free shipping on all online purchases — with no minimum threshold — made during the holiday shopping season. The perk will run between Oct. 25, and Jan. 2. Best Buy typically charges a fee for all orders below $35.
The benefit of the program is two-fold. Besides providing a more seamless way for shoppers to receive the season’s most desired merchandise during the hectic season, the service is a strategic way for Best Buy to compete with more agile online competitors, such as Amazon which offers free two-day shipping to its Prime subscribers.
In addition to free shipping, Best Buy is also offering live chat through its mobile app this holiday season. Called BlueAssist, the in-app live chat feature gives shoppers on-demand access to a service agent, according to a company statement.
