Amazon will offer same-day delivery direct to consumers at one of the nation’s most popular annual music and art festivals.
The online giant is setting up Amazon Lockers at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which takes place over two weekends at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif. Festival-goers will be able to ship everything they need from sun hats and phone chargers to lip balm and portable fans directly to an Amazon Locker at no additional cost during both festival weekends (April 12 -14 and April 19 – 21). They can items in advance for delivery during the festival or order onsite for same-day delivery.
In the weeks leading up to the festival, Amazon will launch a dedicated Coachella storefront on its retail site. It will feature a selection of essentials and festival needs across categories, including fashion and accessories, beauty, health and wellness, tech, and camping. During checkout, customers that want items delivered to the festival will select one of the Amazon Lockers at Coachella as their shipping address.
Once their package is ready for pickup, customers will receive an e-mail along with a barcode that they will use to pick up their package. Amazon Lockers will have a designated space within the festival gates and Amazon associates will be onsite to answer any questions from customers picking up their package.
“We want customers to make the most out of their weekend at Coachella,” explains Patrick Supanc, Amazon Worldwide director of lockers and pickup. “Bringing the convenience of Amazon Lockers to Coachella will help customers focus on their experience instead of worrying about forgetting something at home or having to carry it in with them.”
Amazon Lockers are currently available in more than 900 cities and towns across the U.S.
