Amazon expands partnership with French supermarket retailer

4/23/2019
Amazon is diving deeper into its third largest market in Europe.

In an expansion of its partnership with France’s Casino Group, the online giant is installing pick-up lockers in Casino stores and also making more of the company’s products available on Amazon. The lockers will be installed in some 1,000 locations across France in nine of Casino’s store banners, including Monoprix, Monop, Geant, Hyper Casino, Casino Supermarche, Leaderprice, Viva and Spar by yearend.

The agreement follows a partnership between Casino’s upmarket Monoprix division and Amazon, with items sourced from Monoprix delivered to Prime Now customers in Paris and its neighborhood since September 2018. As part of the expanded agreement, Amazon and Monoprix will extend their partnership with Prime Now outside the Paris area during the next 12 months. Prime members will enjoy free delivery of Monoprix selection in as little as two hours.

“This announcement represents a new step in strengthening Casino’s omnichannel strategy to always be a little more in the heart of consumers’ lives,” stated Jean-Charles Naouri, CEO of Group Casino.

Monoprix was the first French retailer to sell products via Amazon. As part of the agreement, Casino-branded productions will now be available on the site.
