Amazon adds Prime Now deals to Prime Day mix

7/7/2017

Amazon wants to get Prime Day deals into shoppers hands even faster.

The online giant has added exclusive deals related to its Prime Now service to its Prime Day shopping extravaganza — a move that will get qualifying purchases to members within two hours. These deals will begin on Saturday, July 8 (two days prior to Prime Day’s launch), and run through July 11.

Prime Now, which is exclusive to Amazon’s Prime members, provides free two-hour delivery on tens of thousands of items, from household and daily essentials to electronics, games and outdoor supplies. Starting tomorrow, Prime Now members in more than 30 U.S. can snag deals — between 25% and 30% off, in some cases — on summer favorites and essentials, such as Halo Top ice cream, La Croix sparkling water, fresh strawberries, and even alcohol in select cities, according to Amazon.

Amazon is also sweetening the deal. Starting Friday, July 7 through Prime Day, members get $10 off their first Prime Now order, and $10 off their next purchase using a promotional code, according to Amazon.

Once those orders are placed, the online giant also wants to keep Prime members abreast of orders in transit. That’s why Amazon is linking its Echo speaker to the Prime Day mix.

Prime members can ask the device, “Alexa, where’s my stuff?” Once the digital voice assistant gives the status update, Alexa will ask shoppers if they would like to be notified when the package is out for delivery. For those who say yes, their Echo’s LED ring will glow yellow on delivery day. Alexa will also notify shoppers when the package arrives, according to The Verge.
