Tanger Deer Park was the test site for the company's new third-party logistics partner.

Tanger Factory Outlets is testing a Fillogic micro-distribution hub at its Deer Park Center in Long Island and will be monitoring its effectiveness before launching it portfolio-wide.

Fillogic forward-stages store inventory to meet online demand, resupplies stores in malls, and performs ground shipping ranging from bulk to next day. The company will pack orders in retail stores or can take bulk orders to its own hub location to pack, sort, and ship.

Tanger CEO Stephen Yalof believes using Fillogic--whose clients include Simon, Taubman, and Macerich—will take his company’s fulfillment capabilities to the next level.

“It will allow us to expand our strategic partnerships and tenant portfolio into categories such as furniture and hardgoods that benefit from on-site logistics,” Yalof said.

At Tanger Deer Park, Fillogic’s hub provides same-day delivery for local residents and also lets them make returns of online purchases in-store. Outlet centers, such as Tanger’s in Myrtle Beach and Atlantic City, are often located in tourist towns and serve customers from distant locations. Fillogic’s service can ship their purchases home for them.
