Venstar’s new EMS system helps Family Dollar cut energy use

Chatsworth, Calif. Venstar announced that its Surveyor energy management system has been installed in more than 12,000 U.S. locations, including all Family Dollar stores.

Designed specifically for small-box retail chains, the Internet-based application allows a retailer to remotely monitor, control and manage its HVAC and lighting/electrical and mechanical systems throughout its portfolio.

“Using Surveyor, Family Dollar has reduced its energy use by an average of 22% per store, saving millions of dollars annually,” said Marilyn M. Morse, VP facilities management, Family Dollar, Matthews, N.C., which operates more than 6,700 stores nationwide.
