Starbucks opens second Evolution Fresh juice store; more in works

Seattle -- Starbucks Coffee Co. has opened its second Evolution Fresh juice store, in downtown Seattle. The new format, which also sells wraps, salads and vegetarian and vegan offerings, made its debut four months ago, in Bellevue, Wash. Additional stores in Seattle and San Francisco will open this fall.



In addition to the new stores, Starbucks is expanding distribution of ready-to-drink bottles of Evolution juice in supermarkets and other outlets to tap into the growing market for premium juices.



"We have received a very positive response from the first Evolution Fresh retail store opening just a few months ago, and we are excited to open our second store in the Seattle area," said Arthur Rubinfeld, president, global development and evolution, Fresh Retail. "Evolution Fresh provides convenient accessibility for our customers to enjoy flavorful, cold-pressed juices and natural foods, and we are pleased to bring these offerings to downtown Seattle."



Starbucks purchased the Evolution Fresh brand last year for $30 million.
