Safeway in Bozeman, Mont., awarded LEED Silver
New York -- Safeway’s store in Bozeman, Mont., was recently awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. It is the first LEED for Retail certified store in the state of Montana, and one of roughly 200 LEED-certified grocery stores in the United States.
Designed by MulvannyG2 Architecture, the store opened in December 2011. So much of the waste stream was diverted from landfills during construction that Safeway earned exemplary performance credit through USGBC and 50% of materials used in construction came from within a 500 mile radius.
