Ross Stores continues its aggressive expansion.
The off-price giant recently opened 22 Ross Dress for Less and six dd's Discounts stores across 12 different states in February and March. The new locations are part of the company's plans to open approximately 100 stores in fiscal 2019, including 75 Ross and 25 dd's Discounts locations. (Ross also opened 100 stores last year.)
The recent openings are in line with Ross’ ongoing plans to continue building its presence in both existing and newer markets, including the Midwest for Ross, and the expansion of dd's Discounts into Oklahoma and Illinois. The retailer now operates a total of 1,745 Ross and dd's Discounts locations across 38 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam.
“As we look out over the long-term, we remain confident that Ross can grow to 2,400 locations and dd's Discounts can become a chain of 600 stores given consumers' ongoing focus on value,” said Jim Fassio, president and chief development officer, Ross Stores.
Ross Stores reported that sales grew 6% in fiscal 208, to $15.0 billion. Same-store sales rose 4%. It was the fourth consecutive year of 4% comp sales growth.
