With luxury resale booming, The RealReal has opened a store in one of New York City’s wealthiest enclaves.
The luxury consignment retailer has opened a two-level, 3,000-sq.-ft. store on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, on Madison Avenue. It’s The Real Real’s third permanent location to date, and follows openings in Manhattan’s SoHo and West Hollywood, Calif. The company also operates 10 consignment offices around the country, including one inside each of its stores.
"We're growing our presence in New York to support the strong demand we've seen for both shopping and consigning since opening our SoHo store a year and a half ago," said Julie Wainwright, CEO of The RealReal. "This new format store bridges the gap between our luxury consignment offices and our flagships, bringing together an expanded assortment of expert services and a curated selection of luxury goods."
The new store features a curated mix of women's ready-to-wear, handbags, fine jewelry and watches, art and home pieces. It also has an expansive consignment office. Gemologists, horologists and authenticators are on hand to give customers complimentary valuations on fine jewelry, watches, handbags and even sneakers.
Additional services include;
• Consignment drop-offs for quick and convenient consigning;
• Personal shopping appointments, with stylists curating a selection of pieces from The RealReal's local and online inventory for customers to try on in-store; and
• Product viewings for high-value pieces such as Hermes Birkin bags, vintage Rolex watches and archival apparel.
