New Price Chopper to seek LEED Silver

2/28/2012

New York City -- Price Chopper has opened a 52,000-sq.-ft. store in Binghamton, N.Y., that was designed and engineered to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification.

The sustainable features of the supermarket include the use of precast concrete walls, which helped reduce construction waste, and skylights that allow natural light to enter the store. The store also utilizes energy-efficient LEDs in freezers and refrigerated cases, and glass doors in the frozen and refrigerated departments to help keep the cold air in while conserving energy.
