Neighborhood Goods is bringing its department store of the future model to the Big Apple.
The company announced it will open its second location to date, in Manhattan’s Chelsea Market. Opening in fall 2019, the store will feature its own restaurant concept specific to the locale and an ever-changing selection of brands and products relevant to the New York market.
Neighborhood Goods made its debut in late 2018, at Legacy West in Plano, Texas. The 14,000-sq.-ft. store features a diverse and ever-changing array of contemporary brands, products, events, and services. Since launch, Neighborhood Goods has expanded its line-up to feature more than 35 brands, including Rothy’s, Taschen, Stadium Goods, Buck Mason, Draper James, Primary and more.
The retailer will begin revealing its New York City launch partners over the coming months on its social channels, in addition to the release of more information about its upcoming restaurant concept.
“We’re incredibly proud to be opening at Chelsea Market later this year,” said Matt Alexander, co-founder and CEO of Neighborhood Goods. “We had been thinking of New York as a later target for us, but when the opportunity arose to join such a prominent and creative community, we couldn’t pass it up. Not only is it a vibrant marketplace in and of itself, but it’s also located within a neighborhood that’s in high demand for brands and consumers alike. It’s a perfect introductory vehicle for us into such a special city.”
Headquartered in Dallas, Neighborhood Goods is designed as a modern alternative to — and evolution of — the department store. It makes it easy for brands to set up shop and rotate in and out, offering a variety of leasing and space options.
