Men’s grooming concept plans aggressive expansion in Texas

3/14/2017
Men’s grooming is one of the fastest-growing segments in beauty, and Hammer & Nails Grooming Shop for Guys is looking to tap into the rising consumer demand.

The company, which provides hand and foot care, haircuts and shaves in what it bills as a "man cave nirvana,” plans to open 50 locations in Texas during the next five years.

Founded in 2013 with a shop on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles (its only existing location to date), Hammer & Nails has set itself a target of 250 locations by 2022. The company said it plans to ramp up growth through a strategy focused on smart franchise partnerships and tactical site selection to expand into a leading health and wellness brand. It will be opening its first franchise locations this year, with five slated to open by the end of this summer.

“No one is delivering male-centered grooming services the way we are,” said Michael Elliot, founder and CEO of the burgeoning chain. Elliot appeared on Shark Tank in 2014, but failed to get any Sharks on board with his concept.

The Texas invasion is being led by area representative Ron Guthrie, a franchisee who owns eight The Joint Chiropractic locations, three European Wax Centers, and three Massage Envy Clinics.

Hammer & Nails locations are also planned for Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, Lubbock, Midland, Laredo, and Corpus Christi.
