Rebag is expanding its ‘handbag heaven’ concept.
The digitally native company, which specializes in the buying and selling of luxury handbags, has opened a store on Madison Avenue in Manhattan. The new location comes less than six months after Rebag opened its first physical outpost, a pop up store in SoHo that it has since turned into its permanent flagship.
Both locations feature a "Rebag Bar" where customers can sell their previously-owned bags and receive payment within one hour, an industry first, according to Rebag.
Designed by branding consultancy Red Antler, Rebag's Madison Avenue store is accented with the retailer’s signature pastel yellow hue. The floor-to-ceiling glass storefront offers passersby a glimpse into the “handbag heaven.” The interior is designed to create space, depth, and dimension with different textures and materials – including handcrafted wooden fixtures by Waka Waka Studio – to bring the space to life.
"With Rebag, our goal is to challenge the perception of the secondary marketplace while still making luxe accessible,” said Charles Gorra, founder and CEO of Rebag. “The Madison Avenue store closely mirrors the brand's rich online experience, and introduces inviting sensory features to immerse people into the world of Rebag. People will walk into this store thinking they likely can't afford a beautiful designer bag. The magic is, with Rebag, they can."
The space features over 350 handbags. The star of the show is an exclusive Hermès Himalayan Birkin bag, whose price soars well over $100,000 on both the primary and auction markets, according to Rebag.
In addition, Rebag integrating its e-commerce store Trendlee into Rebag.com, allowing users to both buy and sell on one unified platform. Trendlee, the e-commerce site founded in 2014, will now become a part of Rebag.com. Previously, the company operated two platforms: Rebag.com for sellers, and Trendlee.com for buyers. Starting today, both entities will merge into Rebag.
