Lord & Taylor to open first-ever Home store
New York City -- Lord & Taylor will unveil a new concept called Lord & Taylor Home on Friday, at Fashion Center shopping center in Paramus, N.J. A second location, in Shrewsbury, N.J., is expected to open in several weeks. Lord & Taylor is owned by NRDC Equity Partners, which also owns Canada’s Hudson Bay Co.
The 23,000-sq-ft.freestanding store will carry a wide range of home goods, and sell an array of brands, according to The Record. It also will offer exclusive U.S. distribution of the Gluckstein Home brand, created by interior designer Brian Gluckstein for Hudson’s Home Outfitters chain in Canada, the report said. Hudson's also owns the license to the Linens 'n Things brand name, and the new Home stores will carry Linens 'n Things branded sheets and towels.
Lord & Taylor opened a dedicated home-goods department in its Fifth Avenue flagship last year, and has opened similar in-store home shops in some of its suburban locations.
If the initial stores are successful, Lord & Taylor ultimately could have "have hundreds of these throughout our regions, if not expanding beyond our regions," Lord & Taylor CEO Brendan Hoffman told The Record.
