Ikea announces contractors for San Antonio-area store
Ikea U.S. is moving along with plans to build a 289,000-sq.-ft. store in Live Oak, Texas.
The retailer has chosen Tribble & Stephens to serve as construction manager for the site work and store development project. The full-service construction management, design/build and general contracting firm has constructed other stores for Ikea, including locations in Houston and Round Rock. Ground breaking in Live Oak is scheduled for spring 2018, with an opening in summer 2019.
Other firms assisting with the project are: WD Partners for architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing design; Segovia Retail Group for site selection support; Stantec for civil engineering; Raba Kistner Consultants for geotechnical engineering; Code Consultants, for fire protection and fire alarm engineering; and GreenbergFarrow for development services.
Ikea also is evaluating potential on-site power generation to complement its current U.S. renewable energy presence at 90% of its U.S. locations.
