Nest Fragrances has brought together its expanding product portfolio for the first time under one roof.
The lifestyle fragrance brand opened a store in the NoLIta neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. The 1,140-sq.-ft. space sells more than 215 SKUs across the brand’s three core product categories (home, fine fragrances and its newly launched bodycare line) in what it described as “an enchanted, fragranced garden.” The store will also offer limited-edition products and specialty gift sets, candle accessories, and a concierge delivery service in New York City.
“The theme of our first retail store reflects and was inspired by our desire to showcase the Nest Fragrances brand in a harmonious and holistic fashion in an environment that, like our fragrances, is artful, sophisticated, and approachable,” said Laura Slatkin, founder and executive chairman of Nest Fragrances. “The store’s design combines botanical artwork, modern materials, and whimsical details to bring to life a truly enchanted and beautiful fragranced garden. I could not be more pleased with the final result.”
Nest partnered with New York-based interior design firm R. Douglas Gellenbeck Studio to conceptualize and build the store. MJ Atelier, an art studio based in Los Angeles, was commissioned to create a hand-painted, sculpted wall covering that is inspired by early 20th Century French interior designer Armand-Albert Rateau’s bath design he created for the Duchess of Alba.
The custom-made wall and ceiling covering features three-dimensional floral and botanical elements inspired by the works of 18thand 19th-Century botanical artists Mrs. Delany and Ernst Haeckel. Launched in 2013, the Nest fine fragrance collection was inspired by Delany’s artwork, while the newly launched Nest bodycare collection was inspired by the artwork of Ernst Haeckel.
“Since 2008, when I founded Nest Fragrances, I have drawn inspiration from art, fashion, destinations, and literary works combined with the beauty of nature and its natural elements to create fragrances and products to achieve that mission,” Slatkin said. “Now, 10 years later, I am thrilled that we have come full circle by successfully applying that same approach and fragrance-forward philosophy to achieve our mission in our very first retail store. Consumers will see a lot more of it as we continue to expand our footprint at retail in the coming years.”
Nest’s home fragrance collection include scented candles and diffusers in several sizes and formats, liquid soap, and hand lotion across 20 fragrances. The brand’s fine fragrance collection product offerings include eau de parfum sprays, rollerballs, body cream, and scented candles across eight fragrances. The new lifestyle bodycare collection product line include fragranced body wipes, water-activated foaming-cleansing towelettes, body wash and lotion, hand cream, body mist, and lip balm SPF 15 sunscreen across four fragrances.
Nest products are sold primarily in North America through a premier network of specialty department stores, beauty product stores, boutique stores and spas, and the company’s online site.
