Apple is set to pass the 500 store mark on Saturday, Feb. 25, when it opens its first store in Austria.
Apple Kärntner Straße is located on the famous pedestrian shopping street between St Stephens Cathedral and the Vienna State Opera. Designed with the original heritage building in mind, the two-level store features a corner entrance and reinstated exposed columns with large window openings that seamlessly connect it to the public gathering space outside.
In keeping with Apple’s updated retail format, the new Apple will offer free "Today at Apple" sessions daily, with the workshops focused on photography, coding and app development, music, art and design, and more. Some sessions, such as Interactive Photo Walks, will take participants outside the store as they learn new skills. But most will take place in an area of the store called “The Forum,” will features a state-of-the-art video wall. Entrepreneurs and app developers interested in hands-on training and advice can meet with Apple team members in the store’s “Boardroom” area for customized support.
The store will feature Apple’s entire line of products. New owners can get help customizing their iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or Mac. The store has 150 employees. Together, they speak 44 languages.
Apple currently has 500 stores around the world. It opened store #500, in Seoul, South Korea, at the end of January. Construction is underway on another historic location, on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. It is expected to open later this year.
