Danish retailer Flying Tiger is ramping up for an aggressive U.S. expansion.
The brand, known for its quirky designs and value prices, will open a 2,400-sq.-ft. store at Garden State Plaza, New Jersey, on November 8. It will be the company's sixth U.S. location.
Additional stores are set open in other Simon Property Group malls, including Menlo Park Mall, Menlo Park, New Jersey; Roosevelt Field, Garden City, New York; Walt Whitman Shops, Huntington Station, New York; and Newport Centre, Jersey City, New Jersey.
The expansion reflects Flying Tiger Copenhagen's explosive global growth. The brand, which operates more than 800 stores in 30 countries across Europe, Asia and the U.S., is opening two to three global stores each week.
"We are thrilled to welcome Flying Tiger Copenhagen to the Simon portfolio," said Zachary Beloff, national director of business development at Simon. "We are always attracted to brands that offer great product, value, and a dose of fun. We believe their store experience allows for a sense of discovery and we look forward to a long relationship."
Flying Tiger offers a quirky, ever-changing assortment of products, ranging from home goods to toys to electronics and more, with many of the items created by the company’s in-house design team in Denmark.
"Danish design is immensely popular in the U.S.," said Flying Tiger head of North America, Søren Friis. "Flying Tiger Copenhagen's strength is that we can offer Danish design at surprisingly affordable prices."
Flying Tiger landed in the United States in June 2015, in Manhattan’s Flatiron district. It opened its first store in 1995, in Copenhagen, where the company is still based.
