Bergmeyer is losing one of its longtime associates, who also happens to be one of the retail industry’s biggest cheerleaders.

After 35 years, Joe Nevin, senior principal, Bergmeyer, Boston, has decided to leave the firm to pursue the next phase of his career, the company announced. His last day in the office will be Sept. 21.

“As hard a decision as this was for him, he believes that the firm is in the best shape it has ever been in with solid leadership, outstanding people and a great next generation of ownership,” the company said in a release. “Our collective intent is to ensure a smooth transition of client relationships and project knowledge and to support each other in our future endeavors.

Nevin, who joined Bergmeyer in October 1983, is widely recognized as a leader in the field of retail store design. In its statement, Bergmeyer said it celebrates “Joe’s many contributions and years of service, especially the founding of its retail specialty and his contributions to the steady growth of the firm.”
