Department store retailer continues Canadian expansion

10/21/2016

Nordstrom has opened its second full-line store In Toronto.

The department store retailer opened a three-level, 199,000-sq.-ft. store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre on Oct. 21. It is the company's second location in Toronto, with the first, at CF Toronto Eaton Centre, opening in September.

Nordstrom’s store model has been turned inside-out at Yorkdale, according to an article in The Toronto Star. Many of the services typically found at the perimeters of a store – including the elevators — have been set back to allow the store to be wrapped, as much as possible, in glass. A soaring atrium at the center, with clerestory windows, allows more natural light into the space on all three floor levels.

The store includes 12 designer apparel and handbag boutiques along with an array of services to enhance customers’ shopping experience such as a same-day delivery service, a private shopping suite, a full-service restaurant and bar, cocktail lounge and specialty coffee bar.

Yorkdale Shopping Centre marks the fifth of six announced Nordstrom stores to open in Canada through 2017. CF Sherway Gardens will also open in Toronto on September 15, 2017.

Nordstrom operates 346 stores in 40 states and Canada.
