After some 110 years in business, Red Wing Shoe Company has stepped out with a flagship in Manhattan.

Located at 11 Penn Plaza in the heart of midtown Manhattan, the new Red Wing Shoes is the company’s first permanent site in the Big Apple. It combines the brand’s signature work boots, stylish Heritage collection and extensive collection of laces, inserts and socks with personalized service and experiential offerings.

The 3,300-sq.-ft. store celebrates the company's rich heritage and tradition of quality craftsmanship. It includes a tribute (“New York City Wall of Honor”) to the skilled workers who helped build the city, with an interactive installation of stories about the toughest jobs done in Red Wing boots. One story, submitted by Chris Csoka, tells of his work cleaning up Ground Zero after 9/11 and how his Red Wing boots, which are on display in the store, saved his life in an electrical explosion during recovery efforts.

Another interactive display reveals how Red Wing boots are made by following the company's traditional step-by-step process, which has remained largely unchanged since its founding in 1905.

The store also provides customized service via shoe-fitting experts who advise on the best size and fit for tailored needs, including highly specific work conditions and safety requirements. Other services include a boot repair and care bar, where Red Wing boots can be refurbished while the customer watches.

"Red Wing Shoes have been a mainstay on New York City job sites for more than a century, but until now we haven't had a physical presence in Manhattan," said Mark Urdahl, CEO, Red Wing. "We are excited to make it easier than ever for New York's workers, residents and visitors to find the right product and services for their needs, whether it's working on a construction site or commuting to the office."

Along with growing via the opening urban stores, Red Wing recently launched a a digital footwear program that makes it easier for companies to offer Red Wing boots to their workers.
