Starbucks isn’t the only company that has big plans for China.
New Look, the British apparel retailer, is looking to expand to 500 stores over the next three years in China,
Fortune reported. It currently operates a total of 850 stores globally, with 95 locations in China.
The company, which was acquired last year by South African retailer and investment tycoon Christo Wiese, plans to make most of the clothing in China to ensure the items appeal to local tastes and can get to stores quickly, the report said.
New Look’s planned expansion in China will put it directly in the crosshairs of other global fashion retailers, including H&M and Inditex, which are also expanding in China.
