Another retailer jumps into the CBD business

Green Growth Brands has added another retailer to its fledgling list of retail partners.

Starting in October, the company will sell hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD) infused personal care products in nearly 500 American Eagle stores and on the chain’s online site, with the items expected to be avail. The products, exclusively developed for American Eagle, will include a wide assortment of CBD-infused personal care items such as lotions, muscle balms, and aromatherapy.

American Eagle is Green Growth’s third major wholesale partner to date. In June, it announced a deal to sell its products in more than 160 Abercrombie & Fitch stores. And earlier this year, Green Growth entered into an agreement with DSW.

The company's CEO, Peter Horvath is no stranger to retail. He was chief global commercial and administrative officer at American Eagle from 2016-2017 and was president of DSW from 2005-2008.

Mall owners are also getting on board with CBD. Green Growth has deals with Brookfield and Simon to open stores in their centers selling CBD-infused products. Most of the stores will operated under Green Growth’s Seventh Sense banner. Green Growth has said it expects to open more than 200 stores by the end of 2019.

There is little mystery as to retailer’s interest in CBD. According to cannabis-focused research firm Brightfield Group, the CBD industry has the potential to become a $22 billion business by 2022.
