Stater Bros. names new chief marketing officer

A longtime veteran of of Stater Bros. Markets is retiring. 

The largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California has appointed Rebecca Calvin as senior VP and chief marketing officer, effective September 26. She succeeds executive VP and CMO Dennis McIntyre, who is retiring after 44 years and six months at Stater Bros. He has served in his current position since 2019. 

Most recently, Calvin served as senior VP and chief merchandising officer at The Save Mart Companies. Prior to joining Save Mart in January 2021, she was with The Kroger Co., from 2018 to 2021. Calvin also served as VP of grocery, frozen, and dairy at Mariano’s. 

Calvin  will lead Stater’s marketing efforts, which include the sales and merchandising, integrated marketing, eCommerce, and food srategy and innovation departments.  She will also serve on the company/s executive leadership team.

Based in San Bernardino, Calif., Stater Bros. Markets operates more than170 grocery stores.  The company recently announced it is implementing a cloud-based POS solution from NCR.
