Simon to upgrade Smith Haven Mall with new tenants, renovations

Simon Property Group’s Long Island shopping center is getting a major renovation.

The real estate investment trust has announced a multi-million dollar project at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove, N.Y. on Long Island. The major redevelopment will begin this summer and is expected to be completed in 2026. It will include a number of new retailers, dining destinations, an outdoor plaza, and amenities throughout the property.

The redevelopment at Smith Haven Mall will include fashion brand Zara, which will open its massive new space in 2026 near Center Court. It will be Zara's first location in Eastern Long Island. Sur la Table will open in the fall of this year, providing shoppers with a location to find upscale cookware, dinnerware, cutlery, and more.

Golf Lounge 18, a state-of-the-art golf facility featuring a full bar and multiple TVs to watch the big game, will open in March. Restaurant chain Ford's Garage, known for hamburgers and decor focused on one of America’s most iconic companies, is also slated to open at the center.

Smith Haven Mall’s redevelopment will feature notable improvements to the exterior and interior of the property, starting with a green outdoor plaza that includes extensive new landscaping and seating areas. Once complete, the park-like setting will be ideal for visitors to meet, relax. and enjoy community gatherings. 

The exterior of Smith Haven Mall is being repainted and will welcome shoppers with bright signage and refreshed entryways. The mall's interior will feature updated flooring, modern fixtures and other enhancements, including an extensive revitalization of Center Court and a transformation of the food court to feature all new seating for a more comfortable dining experience.

First opened in 1969, Smith Haven Mall spans over 1.2 million sq. ft. and features more than 130 retail stores along with several restaurants to choose from.
